3.       Paper and pen if you don’t have a printer
The vacuum storage bags are excellent to keep bedding and clothes clean and in a good condition. It is a brilliant space saver.

Instructions:
1.       Add all the blankets, electric blankets and seasonal clothing to the vacuum storage bags.
2.       Write or print on the paper what is in the bag and add the paper to the storage bag.
4.       Store accordingly.

Shoes, glorious shoes




Yes, I am a shoe-aholic. No! I don’t need help.

Shoes are just one of those things that women can’t explain why it is an obsession. Shoes can
transform your outfit, your confidence, your attitude and it carries you.
So many shoes and only two feet



Today I am sharing two things about shoes, 1. Shoe storage, and 2. Shoe maintenance.
Shoe storage:

1. There are many systems out there. First prize is always if you have the right cupboard space that
provides for shoe storage.
2. If you don’t have that, then you must look at the space available and decide on a storage system.
3. I have two systems.

a. A lazy shoezen. An idea I saw on Pinterest and that my brother made for me. It works on
the same principle as a lazy Susan on a dinner table. It has different compartments and
rotates. What I love most about this, is that all your shoes are visible while rotating.
b. The other system is plastic drawers. It is a set that comes with 3 drawers. There are
different colours to choose from. I prefer the see-through ones. I can store about 3 pairs
per drawer. Each drawer will be categorized by type of shoe.







4. The key about organizing is that items must be easily accessible and also be easy to put back.
Shoe maintenance:

1. At the end of the season, I will go through all my shoes and check for:
a. Heels to be replaced (these shoes will go into the boot of my car – refer to my boot
organizing video)
b. Shoes that needs to be washed or polished. These shoes will go to my laundry room.
c. Shoes that I longer like (donate these – put these into the boot of my car – refer to my
boot organizing video).
d. Shoes that is worn and must be thrown away. These go straight to the bin.
2. If you keep your hands on your shoes, it will last longer.
In closing…. Always buy the most expensive shoes that you can afford. You spend a lot of time on
your feet.

• Get all the toys together.
• Create 3 piles:

1. Throw-away
2. Donate
3. Keep

• Go through all the toys and decide whether:

1. Toys are broken and can’t be fixed. (Throw-away pile)
2. Toys are no longer wanted. (Donate pile)
3. Toys are still played with. (Keep pile)

• Discard the “throw-away” pile immediately.
• Put all the donate items in a box and in the car. Take these items to a children’s hospital or school on your next trip.
• The “Keep” pile must be split into categories, e.g.:

1. Cars & Trucks
2. Balls
3. Dolls
4. Outside toys, etc.

• Decide on a type of storage, e.g. plastic containers, baskets, drawers, tins, etc.
• Label the storage as per the above categories. If kids are still too small to read, then use pictures instead of words.
• Utilise the space underneath your kids’ beds.
• Floating shelves are also nifty to display toys.
• Puzzles can be stored in plastic containers. Stick the picture of the puzzle on top of the plastic container.
• Board games can also be stored this way, or filed like books or stacked in a cupboard. If possible, keep the board games in the room where it is played the most, e.g. television lounge.
• To stay organized, you have to go through the toys at least twice a year and follow the steps above.

Organize the supplies into different categories first.

• Ribbon, raffia, twine, rope.
• Cellotape (transparent adhesive tape), double-sided tape, glue and scissors. Buy a pair of scissors for your gift wrapping storage and you will NEVER look for scissors again.
• Tissue paper, gift bags and wrapping paper.
• Greeting cards stickers and envelopes.
• Decorating items, e.g. feathers, beads, crystals, tags, etc.
• Pens and fibre-tip pens for writing the cards or for writing on the gifts 

Decide on where you are going to store your supplies. I would recommend your home-office/study area or 1 or 2 shelves in the linen cupboard.

Decide on your type of storage, which is also dependent on where you are storing it, as well as your categories in number 1 above. I used shoebox-style containers for my supplies. This is the exciting part and where you can go wild. Decide on something that will suit your personality and décor style. The possibilities are endless.

• Plastic containers
• Boxes
• Wicker Baskets
• Laundry Baskets
• Mason Jars
• Plastic drawer trolleys on wheels
• Custom-made wrapping stations

Now for the fun part! Add your supplies, per categories to your chosen storage.  I also use sub-storage for smaller items. I colour-code my ribbon into smaller containers, which all go together in a box, labelled “Ribbons”.

The most important part and this is where your creativity will come in handy, is the labelling of your storage. It is imperative that you label the storage. Otherwise you will end up wasting time looking for the items in the different boxes and you will be disorganized again, as your categories will go out the window.

Gift wrapping will be a pleasure from now on and you will be much more creative with the wrapping as you know exactly what is available.
