Car Boot / Trunk Organizing

by - July 24, 2017

How many times has it happened that you get to the shops and you forgot the bag of clothing that must be returned or exchanged? Or the clothing that must go to the tailor? Or the book that you borrowed from your friend?

The boot/trunk of my car is part of organizing my life. I have 2 items that I use. One is an open clear plastic container and the other one is called a boot organizer and works for storing bigger stuff and a few grocery bags.

So what are the things I store in my boot?
1.       Clothing or items that must be returned or exchanged at the shops.
2.       Clothing that must be altered or mended at the tailor.
3.       Items that I borrowed from friends, e.g. books.
4.       My dumbbells and exercise mat.
5.       Shopping bags, doing my bit to use less plastic.

If clothing or items must be returned or exchanged, I put those items on the staircase landing. I take these to my car when I go downstairs.

I do the same with clothing that must go to the tailor.
Once I am done with a borrowed item, I do the same. There is nothing worse than not returning borrowed items.

Once the shopping bags are unpacked, it goes to the landing and then to the car. Remember to take these bags out of the car when you go shopping. You will save money on buying plastic and you will do your bit for saving the earth.

Of course you need a plan for these items. No use it just stays in your boot/trunk. I plan my route when I leave the house. If any of the above items are on-route, I make a note to deliver it or take it into the shopping malls with me.

I obviously take it a bit further and create a little to-do-list of the things that must be done. That way, I use my time efficiently and get everything done.

Just another way of being organized, saving money and time.

Happy Organizing,
Adele xx
