Travelling is usually a stressful time, especially if you have many stopovers and long-haul flights. However, if you are well prepared, things will go smoother.

Today I am going to share with you, what we take with to be airport and aeroplane ready.
Remember your travel pillows!

Each person in the household gets a backpack. I travel with a laptop bag. There is enough space in the laptop bag for all the travel documents.

In here we store the following:
·         Reading books and magazines
·         Activity book, if you have small children
·         Snacks
·         Warm jacket
·         Clothing for the weather at your last stop
·         Camera
·         Mobile, tablet and chargers
·         Passports and other travel documents
·         Lipice, lotion, etc.
I make certified copies of all the travel documents. I leave a set at home for the family. I keep a set with me and 2 sets go into different suitcases. This is in the event your passports get stolen or lost. It will ease the process of obtaining replacements.
Remember to familiarise yourself with allowed items in your check-in and hand luggage. If you have any items in your hand luggage that is not allowed, it will be confiscated. Items in your check-in luggage that is not allowed, will cause you delays, searching, interrogation and trouble.
Remember to relax and stay calm at the airports. Your destination is your reward.

Travel Ready
To travel, is probably most of the exciting things in life. Exploring new cities, old towns and different foods and cultures is priceless. However, to get ready for those travels can be very daunting.
Today I am going to share with you, how I store and organize my travel goods.
First things first. At the beginning of each year, check your passport for validity. If your passport expires in that year, diarise it, and take the necessary action to renew it.
Suitcases, bags and travel pillows
1.       I store all of these in the top shelf of my bedroom cupboards.
2.       Bags and travel pillows will go inside the suitcases.
3.       If a suitcase is small enough to fit into another suitcase, I will store it like that.
Travel accessories
What do I have?
·         Locks for the suitcases and bags
·         Luggage tags
·         Different sizes toiletry bags
·         Set of toiletries
o   Remember to replenish these after your trip
·         Adapters for different countries
·         Travel size containers to dispense toiletries
·         Water-resistant bags for phones and cameras
·         List of all the lock and suitcase combinations
·         Different size bags to pack small items, such as jewellery, chargers, etc.

1.       I keep all of these together in one toiletry bag.
2.       All the items that belong together, is kept together.
3.       Storing it this way, makes packing very easy and quick.
Remember to go through your suitcases and bags once a year to check whether it is still in a good condition. If it needs fixing, put it in the boot of your car and have it fixed. If damaged, then discard. Be sure to replace these suitcases and bags.
After each trip, clean your suitcases and bags to prolong the use of it.
Go check out my video to see all the things I keep in the toiletry bag.

Scarves

A multifunctional, must have accessory in your cupboard. For me, scarves serve 2 purposes. 1, to keep you warm in winter and 2, to zhoosh up your outfit.

Make sure that when you buy a scarf that it goes with 2 or 3 outfits in your cupboard. Also check that it suits your skin tone.

I have 2 ways of storing my scarves. I bought a wooden scarf hanger and hang my scarves on here. You can easily see the scarves and it doesn’t crease. It also hangs nicely in your cupboard.
I have a cupboard in my bedroom for my accessories. In this cupboard there is a designated space for laying the scarves flat. This works well for the bigger ones, such as the pashminas. I fold them up in a square and store them in the cupboard.

There are many ways to store your scarves:
1.       Roll them up and store them in baskets, plastic containers or in your drawers.
2.       Install towel rails onto a wall and hang the scarves onto the rails.
3.       You can use old ladders.
4.       You can stick washing pins onto a piece of wood and pin the scarves.
5.       You can screw round door knobs onto a piece of wood and let the scarves hang over the knobs.
6.       The list is endless… you can go wild with your creativity.

Remember to go through your scarves twice a year to check whether you still wear them, whether you still like them and whether they are still in a good condition. Donate or discard accordingly.
Go check out my video for ideas on how to wear your scarf.

The grocery cupboard.

The hub of your kitchen. That cupboard where you will always find your children hovering and  that question… Can I have a snack please?

I am sharing with you how I keep my grocery cupboard organized and tidy. So how do I do this?

Twice a year I will unpack the grocery cupboard by doing the following:

1. Unpack one shelf at a time.
2. Wash and dry the shelf.
3. Go through all the unpacked products and check for expired dates.
4. Discard expired products and add those products to your shopping list to replenish.
5. Put the items back into the cupboard and organize accordingly. Remember to keep types of
products together, e.g. cereals, coffee and tea, rice and pastas, etc.

Tips:

1. Don’t take on too much.
2. Take one shelf at a time.
3. Use plastic containers where applicable and label accordingly, e.g. for all the different types
of rice in the cupboard.
4. Shop once a month for the grocery cupboard. Buy enough to last the whole month, plus one
week into the new month. You will never run out of products.
5. Weekly shopping is then for fresh goods and if you need specific products for a recipe.
Why is an organized cupboard important?
1. You save time! By doing a monthly shopping, you don’t end up spending so much time in the
shops.
2. You never run out of grocery items during the month.
3. You save money! When you are in a hurry to replenish grocery items, you are prepared to
pay any price for that item.
4. Your cupboard is clean and all products are within their expiry dates.
