Grocery Cupboard Organizing

by - September 04, 2017

The grocery cupboard.

The hub of your kitchen. That cupboard where you will always find your children hovering and  that question… Can I have a snack please?

I am sharing with you how I keep my grocery cupboard organized and tidy. So how do I do this?

Twice a year I will unpack the grocery cupboard by doing the following:

1. Unpack one shelf at a time.
2. Wash and dry the shelf.
3. Go through all the unpacked products and check for expired dates.
4. Discard expired products and add those products to your shopping list to replenish.
5. Put the items back into the cupboard and organize accordingly. Remember to keep types of
products together, e.g. cereals, coffee and tea, rice and pastas, etc.

Tips:

1. Don’t take on too much.
2. Take one shelf at a time.
3. Use plastic containers where applicable and label accordingly, e.g. for all the different types
of rice in the cupboard.
4. Shop once a month for the grocery cupboard. Buy enough to last the whole month, plus one
week into the new month. You will never run out of products.
5. Weekly shopping is then for fresh goods and if you need specific products for a recipe.
Why is an organized cupboard important?
1. You save time! By doing a monthly shopping, you don’t end up spending so much time in the
shops.
2. You never run out of grocery items during the month.
3. You save money! When you are in a hurry to replenish grocery items, you are prepared to
pay any price for that item.
4. Your cupboard is clean and all products are within their expiry dates.
Happy organizing!
